Puerto Del Carmen is the largest and without question, most popular resort on the island of Lanzarote. It is attractive for many people and nationalities thanks to the large, golden sandy beaches, selection and choice of activities and excellent, diverse range of all day restaurants and bars. With the year round climate that Lanzarote offers, it is easy to see why so many people chose Puerto Del Carmen as their destination of choice.
Matagorda
For people who dont like to travel far from the airport to their accommodation, Matagorda is the perfect choice. Matagorda is a small area and has a large amount of bars and restaurants to choose from all within walking distance from the hotels. If you fancy a trip into the main area of Puerto del Carmen, you can catch the local bus service or take taxi for small change.
The beaches in Matagorda are golden and very long but it can get very windy as there isnt much shelter in the area.
Matagorda is popular with older visitors to the island of Lanzarote, due to the flat terrain and landscape. .
The Old Town
The Old Town is a beautiful area of Puerto del Carmen has managed to keep the look and feel of an old Spanish village.
The ambience of the area is created by the many different bars and Restaurants, many of which are hidden away down the little streets.
For those that love their live music, the scene in the old town is alive and you can even find some late night bars and nightclubs in the harbour area.
The 'Strip' / New Town
The 'Strip' (New Town) as it is more commonly known, is around 6km long with one of the most diverse range of of bars, shops and restaurants for you could wish to choose from. From your early morning and all day breakfasts, to cold beers and local wines, to late night live music and nightclub venues, the New Town certainly does have it all.
Puerto Del Carmen also offers an lovely shopping centre called the Biosfera which offers 4 floors of shops and bars (with a kids play area to keep them happy and a great open air cinema.
Playa Grande, the large beach, runs alongside the Avenida and provides plenty of room for holiday makers who want to 'top up their tan' or enjoy a dip in the ocean.
