Exploring Lanzarote

Lanzarote is a unique and stunning volcanic island with so much to see and explore. You can hire a car through the reception and explore independently or our reception can book and organise some amazing excursions where you can sit back and relax and discover the history and beauty of the island.

For a small Island there is so much to see and here are some places and things not to miss…… 

The bay of El Golfo where the Olivin (semi precious stone) was discovered and the green lagoon of El Golfo

The rugged coastline of Los Hervideros (the boiling pots) this is where lava ran into the sea creating an amazing rugged coastline.

Timanfaya National Park (Fire Mountain) take the crater tour around the lava fields formed by the 17th & 18th Century volcanic eruptions. Witness firsthand the force of Mother Nature. Experience the amazing experiments demonstrating the heat that still reaches 410c just 30 feet underground. Have fun on a camel ride around the base of Fire Mountain or take it easy and use this stop as a great photo opportunity. 

 The wine growing region of La Geria and sample some of the fabulous Lanzarote wine in the various Bodegas around this area with the most unusual vineyards in the world. 

Teguise the ancient Capital with a fabulous Sunday morning market 

The town of Haria and the home to the Valley of a thousand palm trees. It has a wonderful town square ideal to sit and have lunch or a cool drink and take in the atmosphere 

The Mirador del Rio viewpoint overlooking the Chinijo islands, Alegranza, Montaña Clara and the island of La Graciosa which has recently been named the 8th Canary Island.

Jameos del Agua where the creative genius Cesar Manrique has transformed the lava tunnel and cave into subterranean walkways, an auditorium and a volcanic museum. Many concerts are held inside the cave.

Cuevas de los Verdes (the green caves where people used to hide from pirates and slave hunters and hosts an amazing optical illusion and beautiful lighting. Both the Jameos del agua and Cuevas de los verdes are part of the 7 kilometre long lava tunnel from Volcan de la corona.

Cactus Gardens is home to 10,000 cactus plants and over 1,400 species of cactus are represented. Many have been imported from America and Mexico, as well as Madagascar and other Canary islands. 

The Cesar Manrique Foundation where you can see firsthand how the artist adapted five volcanic bubbles into rooms of his house. This is now an art gallery where a collection of his paintings are exhibited.
