Puerto del Carmen is split up into three unique areas, these are known as Matagorda, the Old Town and the New Town (better known as the strip that runs adjacent to the large beach - Playa Grande).
These 3 areas are very different to one other but offer a superb selection of bars and restaurants to suit all tastes, and of course shops and shopping centres for anyone looking to take a peice of Lanzarote home with them.
Matagorda is closest to the Airport, like the other two areas Matagorda has a large amount of bars and restaurants to choose from including its own centre with a very good selection of restaurants. The beaches in Matagorda are golden and very long but it can get very windy. Matagorda is also the flattest part of Puerto Del Carmen.
The Old Town has managed to keep the look and feel of an old Spanish village. The area is filled with many different bars and Restaurants located over the Old Town, many of which are hidden away and are difficult to find
